Telangana Launches New Employees Health Scheme (NEHS) for Government Staff

The Telangana government has rolled out the New Employees Health Scheme (NEHS), a cashless health cover for government employees, pensioners and their dependent family members. The scheme was launched at the Dr B.R. Ambedkar Telangana Secretariat by Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka along with Health Minister Damodar Rajanarasimha.

Officials say the initiative will benefit close to 17.88 lakh people across the state, offering transparent, cashless treatment at a wide network of hospitals. Alongside the scheme launch, the government also unveiled the Employees Health Care Trust (EHCT) deed, opened the new NEHS web portal, and began issuing digital health cards to eligible beneficiaries.

Under NEHS, beneficiaries can avail cashless treatment at hundreds of empanelled hospitals, including several well-known private chains as well as government hospitals across Telangana. The move is part of a broader push by the state to modernise welfare delivery, alongside other ongoing programmes such as free education kits for school students and revised rural employment wages.

Employees and pensioners are advised to check the official NEHS portal for enrolment details, list of empanelled hospitals, and instructions on how to activate their digital health card.
